Winter Preview

Hello everyone!

Now that Halloween is over the hustle for Christmas is under way! I've been working hard on some new cozy things to keep you warm for winter and getting some gift ideas ready :)
It's been slow moving for me these past couple of weeks, injured my finger and have to wait for it to heal before I can do any serious crafting again. There are, however, pictures of the coming new items that I'll let you all sneak peek here :) They should be on Etsy soon! If you don't want to wait and would like to custom order your own please contact me and I'd be happy to get it started for you.

Here is a picture of one of the new ear flap hats I've made! I figure they can be unisex and I sized them for One Size Fits Most (and will be happy to make them smaller if wanted for custom orders) Some hats will have pom poms and some won't, the general feedback I got from my friends and family are that men aren't always a fan of fluffy stuff on top of their head :P
This will be listed as the Oatmeal Ear Flap Hat on Etsy so keep an eye out!

Next I have a quick shot I took after making this Infinity Scarf. This scarf is great because it's harder to loose, won't unwrap and fall off when you are in a hurry. And it's super long so it can be wound and worn in different ways to suit any outfit. When I got this yarn (and I have other colors OMG I was so excited!!!) I kept thinking a meshy net-like look would be so awesome...and that's exactly how it came out! I personally LOVE this scarf and was very tempted to keep it for myself >:D But I'll be a good Squishy and share...
Look for Infinite Autumn Scarf or Autumnal Infinity Scarf (I haven't made up my mind yet) coming soon! :)

The start of a New Venetian Stripes Scarf Line

Hi Everyone!
If you remember awhile back I had a couple scarves for men listed in my shop. Both have since found new homes and aside from my line of Unisex Hats there hasn't been anything for men in my shop since. Before Thanksgiving I started forming a pattern in my head that would be appealing to men. But what do men like? Ha...women everywhere ask this question all the time right? :P Well, the best way to start is to think simple. Neutral colors, clean lines, sturdy and for winter you definitely want warmth. With this in mind I created a scarf made from high quality acrylic yarn to hold up against the busy life of a hard working man, but is still great looking (and easy to wash) I wanted to add texture so the pattern then became ridged, which will also help capture the snow and not melt into the scarf and get you wet/cold. The finishing touch? Fringe, not an overbearing amount but enough that it adds a regal touch to your look when going out for an evening. The scarf is wider set for broader shoulders, or it can be folded up for extra padding.
As a women I find when this scarf is folded it works well on me...though a bit long since I'm pretty short ;) But hey, wrap it around your neck and you are good to go!

Shooting the pictures for the Venetian Taupe scarf was a great experience. I had the help of a couple friends who can see together in my Unisex Beanie line. I had a wonderful time finding great locations to shoot and friends to laugh with :) Some of the pictures I took are not on my Etsy site because the scarf isn't true to color since it was shot in sepia, but just as a photography piece I couldn't help myself! So I'll put one on here for you to peek at :D

The picture on the Left is the cover shot for this Scarf available on my Etsy and Artfire shops. The picture on the Right is the Sepia tone shot.

I am so happy with this piece and I hope the scarf finds a new home soon! I have more color ideas in my head so keep an eye out for new ones added to the Venetian Stripes Scarf line!

Thank you all for following my blog! Hello and welcome those who have recently followed! :D

The Fiery Ruffle Scarf!

Just listed today and reached 93 views! I wanted to create another ruffle scarf but I wanted it to have a new 'twist' to it. So I thought 'hey! What if I made a striped scarf in the ruffle style? It'd be like it's spiraling around itself!' And voila I made it happen! I think the camera made it look a tad brighter than it is, the colors are a nice brick red and a rustic orange which creates the fiery look.

Hope you like! :)

In other news, the Purple Haze Ruffle Scarf I posted the picture of in my last post was sold today! So Fiery Ruffle Scarf is the only one I currently have in stock right now. I'm working my lil fingers off to create some new beauties for you all to see! I'd be more than happy to make another Purple Haze or Falling Leaves though if you want one for yourself :)

Have a great week everyone! Coming up next in my shop - Kid theme mini pouches! :D

New to the Shop...Ruffle Scarves!

Ruffle Scarves a.k.a. Potato Chip Scarves....either way they are super cute! I'd say they are more for fashion than warmth, but if you live in a place that doesn't get too cold each winter these scarves will keep the chill away! So far I've had two up in my shop...a third is on the way! Thought I'd share some sample shots of each!

The Scarf on the left is Falling Leaves Ruffle Scarf...I'd be more than happy to make more but the first one sold the very day it was listed!
The Scarf on the right is Purple Haze Ruffle Scarf - it is still available in my Etsy Shop! It has a colder, more wintery look with it's mix of purples and grays.
I will add the third scarf as soon as I have the pictures! The name will be Fiery Ruffle Scarf so keep an eye out! :)

Also coming soon, more kid color Mini Pouches and me getting my rear in gear making Christmas Goodies!

Heart of Gold Scarf

Heart of Gold Scarf just listed on Etsy. Two nights ago I realized I had put the scarf in my inventory but hadn't actually listed it online! I took pictures of the scarf weeks ago but they didn't come out very good and I had forgotten all about it. :x Now it's up and will be the last scarf listed on sale as part of Squishy's Valentine's Day Sale. Whew.
It's a pretty scarf, unique in that it's the only scarf in my shop that sparkles. The gold flecks in the homespun and the eyelash are shiny. I thought it was a nice touch :)

Have a great weekend everyone, Enjoy Valentine's Day! I'll be back soon with more new items! :D

Caribbean Water Fantasy Scarf

New scarf listed today! It's about that time of year when a vacation in the Caribbean sounds just wonderful doesn't it? With help from my mother this scarf was named Caribbean Water Fantasy. Whenever I see pictures of under water fantasy pictures the violets and blues always seem to pop out at me. Thought this scarf was a very pretty combination of those two colors :)

Water Lily Bliss Scarf

Today's new scarf was inspired by a painter. Monet's Water Lilies painting has such nice colors in it that when I started a new scarf I felt myself being drawn to this color combination.
This scarf is a skinny (width) medium (length) scarf  and would probably work if you want a scarf for someone young, something pretty that can grow with you :)

I had noticed a lot of my scarves were on the warmer side of the color spectrum so I've started looking for cooler colors for those of you who prefer a more tranquil, soft color style. Hope you like :)

Balsam Frost Scarf

This poor scarf, I made it before the holidays then got sick and never made it to the photos part of the process. Well I finally did it and couldn't wait to get it up so here it is!
I always love the fir type of trees that stay green in the winter but get covered in snow. That's what inspired me to find these colors and put them together to create a scarf.
I got a lot more new items finished today so I'll have quite a few things to put up!

If you are interested in this scarf click >here< for it's store link. Enjoy and Goodnight!

A Merry Little Christmas Scarf

17 days til Christmas! Can you believe it? Today's new item is A Merry Little Christmas Scarf. You won't believe how wonderfully warm and soft this scarf is. I combined the softest materials to create this. This cheerful scarf is red and white with a hint of gold. It'll make a great holiday gift for anyone or for yourself :)

Holly Jolly Scarf

Happy Monday! Today I've posted a jolly scarf, it's very cheery and festive. It has a nice green homespun with gold in it with fuzzy red fur all around it, I thought it was a nice Christmasy mix.

Woke up pretty early to find the ground covered in white. There isn't much yet but the weather forecast says we are supposed to get over a foot this week :O It's a good thing I have all these scarves. :P
Of course in Wisconsin when the snow comes so does the frigid cold, had to find my winter boots and my jacket which might looks kinda like a sleeping bag you can walk around in-it's so awesome :D.

Anyway, I have a shipment of yarn coming in soon and more holiday scarves almost ready for sale so there will be a lot more coming soon!

Misty Moonlight Scarf

Happy Tuesday! I got Misty Moonlight Scarf up today. It's very silky and warm and I was SO excited when I got this in the shipment of yarn I had ordered. The eyelash was surprisingly silky. The base is a gray homespun while the eyelash switches between silver and black. Click on the picture to see more on Etsy.

Yesterday I re-listed Raspberry Ice Scarf, a fellow Etsian had bought one and I decided to make another since it was pretty :)
Pretty happy with yesterday actually, I had two main goals for the day: Finish a holiday scarf called Eggnog (will be up soon) and make and list the Raspberry Ice Scarf. Got both done and got another project ready before I went to bed last night. Also have a set I need to get started on but it's going to be crocheted so it won't take long :) Well I'm off for now and I probably won't be listing anything else new this week because of Thanksgiving so I wish everyone who is having one a great Turkey day and have fun on Black Friday! :D

Tutti Frutti Scarf

Another day, another scarf! I made Tutti Frutti for adults and children (though I was the only one able to model it) it's 60" in length which would be large (or extra-large depending on age) for a kid but they can be wrapped up and kept warm. Another store owner I know through facebook has a 5 year old who she made a 60" scarf for and she can get bundled in it quite well. Best thing is, even as they grow up, this scarf won't get too small. :)
The color combo in this scarf reminded me of a Tutti Frutti flavored Jelly Bean. So that's how it got the name because originally I was going to name it Candy Land scarf and it just didn't fit.

Click on the picture to be taken to the scarf on Etsy. :)

Fall Harvest Scarf

Fall Harvest Scarf is now up on Etsy. I debated for awhile even putting this one up. It looked so good with my clothes I wanted to keep it :P

Over the weekend I finished a very nice suede-like scarf order. I haven't taken a picture yet but since the order was for a friend I'll take one when he wears it.

Touch the picture to see more details about Fall Harvest.

Desert Scarf for Men

Yay! I finally got my first scarf for men up! I realize guys probably aren't looking around for scarves online but I figured it's nearing the holiday season and plenty of ladies are looking to get gifts and whether they'll admit it or not, guys get cold too :P

If you want to check it out click here.

In other news, I shut down the madeitmyself and shophandmade store sites. The views were there, the sales weren't. With all the new items I'm making it was also a hassle to have to update 4 stores at once. So I'm sticking with Etsy. This way I can spend more time making new items than working on making everything match up online. :P

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Caramel Apple Scarf

Yesterday was a success. Sugared Apple Scarf sold after barely being up for a day!

So next my little apple series is the Caramel Apple Scarf. Really I don't know why I'm such an apple kick...maybe my wallflower in my room is doing it...smells sooo good. Like walking around an apple farm. Anyway, this one is rich and a little more earthy with the caramely fur. Size long, stops just above my knee (I'm 5'4").
In other news I got my first custom order already this month and it's only the 3rd! I'm on a good roll :) So after a short lunch break I'm going to get started on that. Toodles!

Poisoned Apple Scarf

Finally going to let this one out. The Poisoned Apple Scarf! It's so dark and rich. First of the apple scarves that I'll be releasing.
I have so many scarves out now. I just love making them though, so much thought and inspiration goes into each color combination for me.
Hope everyone gets the Snow White reference used in my description. Thought that would be a fun little twist :D
Have a great Wednesday everyone. I'm determined to finish my first scarf for men today!

Yay! I got Raspberry Ice Scarf up today! It's so pretty (and warm, don't forget warm :P) You can find it at any of my stores. There is only one in stock so hurry and snatch it up before someone else does!
Of course, you can always request one in a different size for yourself if you'd like :) I defiantly wouldn't mind making more.
